Oh yes I can!

I always seem to be saying the words "Austin no, you cannot do this" Usually because what he is trying to attempt is to dangerous but through the actions of my one year old, he is telling me, oh mommy yes I can. He is very adventurous and always finds the newest thing to do. Austin is very determined. If he can't reach his goal the first time he will try and try again until he is able to do what he has set his mind to. I just hope that this part of personality never changes. I always want to encourage and praise my children as they get older but in case someone happens to tell Austin he cannot do something I hope he simple shows them that he can.

I have to keep the chairs down because he will climb on the chairs and then make his way onto the table. So to me the logical step was to put the chairs on the ground and then this is what he does.

I am not to sure the purpose of this move but he was having fun and kept himself busy.

One Week Down

Friday marked the fifth day that I have been keeping "N". I have really enjoyed myself. I was not sure how it would all turn out or whate exactly I was getting myself into, but I really think that keeping/ teaching this little boy was a great decision on my part.

I only started taking pictures Thursday but the next time I have him I will have tons more pictures to share.

School is in Session!

I have been behind once again on my blogging but I promise I have a good reason!!

Since Monday of this week I have been keeping a four year old little boy. Unfortunately, he hasn’t been able to attend any daycare or pre-school so therefore he is behind on a lot of his education. We will call him "N". “N” is very smart and very sweet. His parents are divorced and just like so many children in this situation it’s not their fault but they are ones mostly affected and hurt. So I wanted to take it upon myself to help him. I wanted to teach him! I wanted to make his time with me as close to what a pre-school would be like and since I was there when Chandler attended pre-school then I knew something’s about it.

I wanted to give "N" a hundred and ten percent. I made up a calendar and each week I have him, there is a theme. For instance his first week I made the theme "All about me" I found out what "N" knew or needed to learn and then each day he got to do some of his favorite things or bring in his favorite toys or wear his favorite shirts. Just in three days he has been to the Natural Science Center, which was his first time and he loved it) We went to the park, took a nature walk, then to Library. He has reading time, play time, then learning time. I am trying to teach him his name and how to write numbers and his ABC's along with a lot of other important skills.

Austin loves seeing "N" I think it’s helping Austin also because what he sees "N" doing he wants to do. "N" helps me with Austin by playing with him or makes him laugh when Austin is in that “whinny mood”. It can be challenging sometimes but over all I am enjoying myself and seeing "N" run to the kitchen table in the morning when he arrives and pulls out the ABC cards makes it all worthwhile.

Home Sweet Home

I have recenty started to take some cake classes. I go every Monday every week for 6 weeks. I was super excited about this because I want to eventually have my own cake business. But before I started my classes I wanted to do a practice cake and see what I could come up with on my own before the classes. That way at the end of the class I want to make a cake and compare the difference and see how much progress I have made.

This is a cake I wanted to make for my friend that just moved into her house.

Just with making this cake on my own I know that my writing needs some work lol I have never had great handwriting. I can't wait to learn Fondant as well!

You know your a mommy When-sDAZE

You know you’re a mommy when...

all of sudden the house is quiet and you just know he is up to something, so you go searching for him and sure enough he has either climbed on the bed, are in brother's shoes or trying to eat dog food!

The kids get gifts and as each gift has been shown to the child you are saying in your head, “he won’t play with that, that is going to be dangerous, or wow he will love that. You just know your kids :)

Even though he has the remote control and it will probably get miss placed its super cute that he is pretending it is a phone and you just watch him and smile.

Your plate becomes someone else’s food because apparently what you have looks better then what they have so you end up with ether left over’s or a cold plate.

and last but not least… you know you’re a mommy when you can dance as stupid and freely as you want and your baby will just smile and dance right beside you.

Ride me out of town

Apparently Austin's family knows him well...because for his birthday he got three different kinds of toys that he can ride. They must know that if he is not moving then he is not happy. He loves his riding toys and since he is a boy he chooses to find the most dangerous stunt to do with them.

Riding toy #1- Firetruck

                         #2- Thomas the Train

Of course he can't just sit and ride he must climb!

#3- Airplane

Big Numer one

A year ago today I gave birth to a healthy baby boy that was 6 pounds 12 oz and 19 inches long, which all that translates to a perfect baby boy. Now a year later I am carrying around a 20 pound 29 inch long baby boy that still is perfect. I can't believe that my son is one year! I have tried and tried to make time either stop or just slow down but unfortunately I do not have the power to do this, which is probably a good thing because most moms I assume would have their baby's at home with them FOREVER! But on the bright side letting them grow means you get to watch as they learn and try new things, you get to see there personalities and how that have changed since day one at the hospital. Some how even at a young age they are always going to amaze you and make you so proud. Well it has only been a year for me to watch Austin grow but just in that little year I have learned so much and have seen him change in so many ways.

Lets go down memory lane shall we?

                                                            His first month

to his twelfth month...

He holds my heart forever

Celebration!!!

This past weekend I have had tons going on! I had my cousin and his fiancĂ© come into town and stay with Landon and I, then we celebrated my little boys first birthday at Chucky Cheese :) I have been all over the place but loving every minute! We went bowling, fishing, shooting guns, shopping, and took the kids to the park. I love when my family comes in to stay with us, it’s packed and it’s crowded but it is so much fun. My cousin, David (which we call him DA for short) and I are super close and it feels almost like a brother I never had. We love his fiancĂ©, Lisa as well. She is very sweet and helps me a lot with Austin. I was very excited that they came in the weekend that we were celebrating Austin's first birthday. Here are some pictures of the awesome weekend we had!!

Then came Austin's First Birthday Celebration!

Over a nice cup of coffee

I was able to meet my sister yesterday evening for coffee. I can't remember the last time it was just her and I. With having our family's to take care of and friends to keep in touch with, it's nearly impossible to step away. But for the first time in a long time we both stepped away from our evening responsibilities and mommy/wife titles and were able to take time and be just sisters.

I love the feeling of how comfortable and relaxed I am with her. She is a great person to talk to and definitely one to look up too. She always knows what to say and gives the best advice. We talked about a million different topics and laughed about the past. Even with all the changes in both our lives and everything that we have been through we still stick together and know that we can fall on each other even if it seems everyone else has walked away. The relationship I have with my sister, I try not to take for granted and feel as though she is more than just a sister but also a best friend.

We lost track of time yesterday evening and ended up talking for 3 hours. We could have talked for hours and hours if given the time. To me, I think how we make special time for our husbands and children we need to make time for us, our sister time. I feel blessed to have such a wise and thoughtful sister. I can’t wait until our next cup of coffee.

Book Smart

We read so often he is trying to read himself!

Oh here mommy you can read because these words do not make since!
